Estimated departure: Saturday

It's a beautiful blue sky in Seattle this morning. I have my coffee and my time, and figured I should post some photos from yesterday.

This cellist set up in Pike's Place Market playing Bach's Prelude from unaccompanied cello suite no. 1. I thought of you Pix. The market really is amazing. They make cheese, cheesecake, cake, espresso cakes, espresso... I am obviously into food.

These guys are legit cheese makers and cheese mongers. I was pleased. There were also nonmusical wares: ocarinas complete with Zelda music. The market is like the fish sold there--local, fresh, diverse, and, at times, mischevious. Check out this monkfish.

I met Lukas yesterday for the first time after a month of knowing him as the other google docs viewer. He's a great guy, riding an old steel Raleigh frame with armadillo tires, Brooks B17 saddle, and Tubus racks. He brought a DSLR with him, so I am excited to see photos once we reach San Diego.

Here's Camilo as we stop for a drawbridge over lake union.

Once across the drawbridge, we biked to Gas Works Park, an old plant and garbage heap that transmuted into a parcor gym and great place to take in the city skyline.

We then rode to UW. This is the world's first practical ultrasound transducer. Geek out! The campus was beautiful of course.

We picked up Camilo's trailer yesterday along with some small items for the journey. We are all excited to get going. Today I am doing laundry, going to a grocery store, and possibly signing a lease. Hopefully Samir will wake up in time to meet Camilo and Lukas, but I suppose there's no rush. We'll be in close contact for the next three weeks.

Peace, love, and laughter.
