The msi stove is whooshing, boiling a big pot of water. Samir is in his tent extolling hot water and cursing the no good cold stuff. He is wearing wet courdoroys and trying to dry off the rain fly.

It is supposed to be really nice today: partially sunny and 72 degrees. That is welcome weather for four guys still drying our clothes from four days ago.
Yesterday Camilo ate his first smore! The delight in his eyes soon expressed itself as song oncethe ukulale and harmonicas came out of the dry sacks.
So far, the scenery has been phenomenal. The fog and trees blend effortlessly with the calm water of Hood Canal, and the most gorgeous flowers line the road.


Breakfast! We are roughing it, but some luxuries you just can't give up. Like poptarts? Haha

At the beach here, thousands of minute crabs scuttle around the rocks and multidudinous oyster shells. Like crazed christmas shoppers looking for the best deal, they rush at one another to claim the best sludge. The whole region is famous for oysters, and I hope to try some later.

We are taking a short break at mile 61. We are now in Aberdeen filling up on a ton of calories at McDonalds. This is a sort of in between meal before we set up camp at Westport for the evening.

Stretch break! This is a great one to do as a logging truck blazes past.

The ride today has been hot and sunny. A lot of traffic travels along the 12, and it will be a relief to get back to the 101. Fifteen miles left till we reach the Pacific Ocean!
We arrived in Westport after a very arduous ride. We are now encamped behind a Catholic church on the outskirts of town.
We are so close to the beach. We took all our gear off the bikes and rode to the Pacific Ocean, our butts and legs aching.


This is how I felt at the end of the day--tired. I always love seeing the Pacific. It has fascinated me for a long time.
